Be Kind to Yourself

 The OGP (Original Piece Program) is a great program to motivate your soul. Our soul is the spiritual, immortal part of us. Your soul is important and is responsible for health, healing, happiness, and keeping yourself looking young inside and out. The more you motivate your soul the stronger your relationship with God will be.
This week’s soul motivator is being kind to yourself. Most of the time we judge ourselves on being kind to others and this determines God’s favor. Being kind to others is important, but before you are kind to others you must be kind to yourself first. Kindness starts in your soul. Kindness comes from deep within your soul and if you are not kind to yourself you absolutely cannot be kind to others. I know we all go through trials and sometimes we beat ourselves up over them. We blame ourselves, get mad, sad, bitter, and kindness fades away. If we look after our own souls deep down within, kindness emerges no matter what happens. God already has that preprogramed in our souls.
So how do you hit the default button to get back to God’s way?
I have found that that no matter how bad, how busy, or how chaotic it gets I have learned to remember to be kind to myself first. Notice, I did not say put yourself first, but be kind to yourself first. With seven kids, a busy household, and a business to run that was really hard for me to learn. I felt selfish being kind to myself and that is the biggest trap to fall into. Don’t Do That! The devil waits for that because kindness and the devil do not go together. I have learned the little things that I like can become a big deal. For example, take time everyday to do a little something for yourself.
-If you like to read make sure you design your day to immerse yourself in your favorite book, whether it be before anyone is up or at night before you go to bed.
-Buy something for yourself that you don’t need every week, even if it is just a little something.  If money is tight I go to the Dollar Store. You would be surprised how much fun it is to find something to buy for a $1.00!
-Change your routine for one day or one hour and do something different. Changing your routine makes you think about yourself and when you think about yourself you become kind to yourself. To change my routine up from kids, house, and my business I will sit and write. I don’t write everyday because I just can’t, it does not fit into my daily routine but I make it my special routine. I have been working on a book for two years that someday I will finish, but for now I just like to sit and work on it from time to time.
Work on being kind to yourself first by writing a list of things that make you happy. Then reflect on them, and then relax. Pray for your inner kindness and the Holy Spirit will gladly help and guide you to the kindness God has in store for just you.
Be kind to yourself first and your kindness from within will shine on others where ever you go and whatever you do.
