Homemade Chocolate Dipped Cherries

This was my first time melting chocolate and dipping fruit! It was a lot of fun! I purchased all the ingredients at Walmart.
Below is list of what you will need:

1 bag of fresh cherries and 1 carton of fresh strawberries

  • 1 package of Toll House White Chocolate Chips
  • 1 package of Toll House Chocolate Chips Semi-Sweet
  • Parchment Paper.
  • Baking Sheet
I used the white chocolate for the cherries, and chocolate for the strawberries, but you can reverse the combination.
If you have a double broiler, you can use it. I don’t have a double broiler, so I put 2 inches of water in a pot, then set a stove-top safe glass bowl on top of the pot. Make sure the water does not touch the bowl. Set the burner at low heat. Wait until the water is boiling, and then add the white chocolate chips or chocolate chips (melt separately). As a safety precaution, I used oven mitts, while stirring and melting the chips. The white chocolate chips should melt in two minutes or less. Stir frequently. Once the chips are melted, turn the stove off, and remove the glass bowl from the pot.

Wash fruit. Make sure it is completely dry before dipping into the chocolate.
Dip the fruit into the chocolate. To create an even amount of chocolate on each fruit piece, I found it easiest to twirl the fruit against a spoon, like you would with spaghetti. Set each piece on the parchment paper lined baking sheet. Once the fruit is dipped, I set in the refrigerator to chill, then serve.
