Got Milk?

Milk just isn’t for babies. Adults need to drink milk too. Milk has amazing essential vitamins and mineral that we all need throughout our life. Many times as we get older we forget to pour a glass of milk, instead we choose sugary drinks or fancy sports drink instead of our childhood beverage.

I was never a big milk drinker growing up and never thought about the great benefits of drinking milk until I had an accident with my dog. Zoey is a 70 pound Dutch shepherd rescue dog and while barking at some people that walked up on us she pulled me down as I tried my best to keep her by me. My face hit the pavement and I had teeth pushed up everywhere, cuts bruises, and jaw pain. I got everything fixed but still had tooth and jaw pain. One of my daughters, who loves milk kept on me to drink milk to help my teeth and bones. For a while I just kept taking my multi-vitamins thinking that was good enough. It was not until I did my research on milk did I discover the great benefits of drinking it.

-Milk has Vitamin D and calcium which is great for bone health, obstreperous prevention, and keeping your teeth strong.

-Milk has potassium which is heart health and helps reduce blood pressure.

-Milk may reduce the risk of some cancers such as colorectal and ovarian cancer.

-Milk helps people suffering from depression because Vitamin D helps produce serotonin a hormone that helps control your mood.

The Department of Agriculture suggests that adults drink 3 glasses of milk everyday to meet your calcium needs. An 8 oz glass of milk has 150 calories compared to an 8 oz glass of skim milk for 108 calories.

You can consume to much of a good thing. Too much milk maybe harmful causing some major health risks. Ask your doctor what is right for you.

Pour an ice cold glass of milk and drink up the benefits!
